The repair work on the protected, decommissioned chimney of the former M-Real factory in Tampere involved dismantling and reconstructing the chimney, along with other comprehensive repair tasks. Between 2021 and 2022, demolition work and preparations for the repairs were carried out. After the demolition, the chimney was raised back to its original height using a new innovation, and TPH utilized its own brick production for the masonry. The masonry work was performed at ground level during the winter of 2022–2023, and the finished masonry pieces, approximately two meters high and designed to mimic the shape and appearance of the chimney, were lifted one by one and installed in place. This repair project was the most challenging in TPH’s history, as the impacts of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine significantly slowed down the work. The project timeline was extended due to these reasons. The client and the client’s representatives contributed to the schedule, and the project was completed in the spring of 2023.

In the summer of 2024, we carried out repair work on the fiberglass chimney at the Inkoo plant. Alternative repair methods were considered, but it was decided to lower the chimney to ground level, where the repair work was carried out according to the repair plan we had prepared. The biggest challenge before the repair work was obtaining reliable information about the structural integrity and the condition of the inside of the chimney.
